Crowned by a modern esplanade, the old city offers visits to the colonial buildings surrounding Plaza de Mayo. Among them, the ‘de la Compañía de Jesús’ School and Church, and the Metropolitan Cathedral are worth visiting. San Francisco Convent, with its magnificent wood handcrafted work that is unique in South America, protects the antique Immaculate Conception and Jesus from Nazareth’s images; and also hosts a wax museum with images of the members of the 1853’s constituent assembly. Other sites worth visiting are the Provincial Historical Museum, the Colonial Ethnographical Museum and the Zoological Experimental Station which protects endangered native animals.
This city is one of the main urban centers of the country. Construction and constant development are notorious, and this can be appreciated along Santa Fe’s walkways and boulevards.
Santa Fe has become a very important commercial and industrial hub due to its first level port which processes products from a great part of the country. Its domestic harbor and working grain machines deserve a look.
The large parks are an invitation for walking; among them, Parque Nacional de la Bandera and Parque Belgrano, each of them surrounding the monument which honors the National Argentine Flag and its creator, General Manuel Belgrano, respectively.
All this, together with excellent accommodation, dining, and entertainment options, such as discos and theatres, make Santa Fe one of the main cities of the country.
